Court records, 1677-1696; 1786-1826.

This collection consists of two folio volumes of court records describing court session held in Northampton, Hampshire Co., Mass., and Springfield, Hampden Co., Mass., for the period 1677 to 1696. There are numerous references to John Pynchon (c. 1626-1702/03). These records refer to probating wills and trials for a wide variety of offenses, including both civil and criminal cases. There are several instances of copies of entries in both volumes referring to the same case. Enclosed in the front of the second volume are two loose manuscripts. There is a list of Officers for Hampshire County, Justices of the Common Pleas Court, and Justices of the Peace, c. 1786-1826. There is also an undated, incomplete warrant to attach an estate. On verso of the warrant is an illegible note.
